This park was refreshing find. I've lived here for 32 years and never know it was there. It is tucked back in a residential area all by itself. It's a beautiful lake, clean. filled with trees all around it, a big walking past, a playground, one shelter that is first come first serve, of kayak canoe ramp that you can use to drive up to drop off your boats, green grass and a convenient parking lot. It was beautiful and the perfect place for us to let the little buddies learn how to kayak. Very grateful that there was the planning to save this sweet area for the community.

Smith Creek Park is a hidden gem located off Harris Rd just of Gordon Rd. The park offers not only a playground, but clean restrooms, free WiFi, a covered picnic area and a 1.3 mile paved loop around the lake. The loop is perfect for the casual walker, runner, biker or anything else that requires a flat surface. If this wasn’t enough already, there is a kayak/paddle board floating launch and great fishing. Are you not feeling the paved loop? Midway down the loop going clockwise is a nature walk that is reminiscent of a backwoods trail complete with sandy trails. Dog friendly and plenty of doggy poo bags available around the park. Not convinced? These are a few “staged” photos from last week (09/2023)

This park is so nice. It has a picnic and playground as well as a nice and paved trail around the lake that is 1.3 miles, and a natural Preserve Trail that is 1 mile around. Oth trails are very clean. The lake trail is mire popular and busy. Its probably because it's paved and open, while the preserve trail is better for dog walkers or someone just wants some peace and quiet.

This is one of the most under rated spots in all of wilmington! You almost certainly cant beat this sunset (except federal courthouse steps overlooking the riverwalk and the battleship) This is a little piece of "wilderness" nestled into the cut. If you're near market st. & gordon rd. and need a quick breath of fresh air, this is the spot.

Giving this 5 stars, although keep in mind this is a pretty small park and about 30 minutes to walk around the pond on paved trails with a decent amount of nature around - trees, birds, plants. Also several dirt trails you can walk - not too long though. Kayak launch available and dock to fish from. Dogs allowed on leash only.

Playground area is clean and well kept. The 7 yr old and the 20 month old enjoyed it. The lake is beautiful and the pathways are easy to walk on and push that stroller on. Bathroom was very clean. We enjoyed our time there. Will continue to visit here!
